Kellie Pickler is one of "American Idol's" top performers, even though she did not win the show's title. Kellie Pickler was born June 28, 1986 to Cynthia Morton Pickler and Clyde Raymond Pickler at Stanly Memorial Hospital Albemarle. The mother of the child was just 16 when she got expecting her. Her childhood was hard for her due to her father's addiction to alcohol and prescription drugs and her mother had left her at the age of 2. Morton kept custody of Pickler for two years but Pickler said that things were bad. "I was cooking with my mother, when I stated to her: 'I would rather die than stay here.' She took off a knife from the kitchen and put it on the counter. After that, she told me: "Here you go." I was in fourth grade. Naturally, I wouldn't had acted on it yet it's left a lot of emotional scarring," she said. Pickler at the time, twelve years old, was handed over to Morton's grandparents after the court hearing. Pickler was raised by her grandparents throughout her entire life. She cited them as having the most significant influence in her life. The grandmother Faye Pickler died from lung cancer in January 2002 and she was continued raised by the grandfather. Pickler has graduated from North Stanly high school located in New London (North Carolina).
